The ALLY Network was created to create a more diverse and inclusive culture at UWA by promoting greater visibility and awareness of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (GLBTI) staff and students and their issues. An ALLY is someone who is informed about, sensitive toward, and understanding of, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (GLBTI) people and their issues, and affirms the experience and rights of GLBTI people.
ALLIES are identified by this logo on doors and in offices around campus:

An ALLY affirms the experience and rights of GLBTI persons and chooses to challenge homophobic and/or heterosexist values of others in a variety of ways including by individual example and personal awareness.
ALLIES are not identified as being heterosexual or GLBTI; they are representative of the entire UWA community.
Since its inception in 2002, the Ally program has recruited more than 250 Allies across campus, thus making a significant contribution to promoting an inclusive culture at UWA.
