Equity and Diversity provides a consultancy service across the University, offering advice on strategic equity and diversity matters to senior staff, supervisors and individuals, as well as the Guild of Undergraduates and the Colleges. The office assists those in senior administrative roles to identify gaps in policy, service provision and operational processes that may serve to limit opportunities for access and success to a wider representation of staff and students. The office also provides advice and assistance to Deans, Heads of School and Managers of sections to assist in the integration of equity and diversity into faculty, school and divisional strategic planning processes. Individual staff or students seeking advice about the University equity and diversity policy environment, or who wish to discuss a matter of concern that may fall within policy or the law, should initially make contact with an Equity and Diversity Adviser. Members of staff or students who believe they have an equity or diversity grievance may lodge a complaint. The policy for dealing with an equity or diversity grievance encourages the confidential, impartial and timely resolution of such matters at the local level where ever possible. The procedures for managing equity and diversity grievances are currently being reviewed as part of a review of all grievance processes within the university. The office delivers workshops and training sessions on a range of equity and diversity topics, and these sessions can be customised to meet the needs of a particular work area or group. The office regularly delivers guest lectures into the curriculum on matters broadly relating to the achievement of equity and diversity in the Australian society. Equity and Diversity has resources including videos and publications available for use by members of the University community. |
