Diversity Initiatives Funded Projects
The University of Western Australia’s Diversity Initiatives Fund has been established to encourage Faculties/Schools/Units to develop targeted diversity initiatives that enhance equity for students and staff. The emphasis is on educational and employment access, participation and outcomes for groups of students and staff identified as priority areas in the University’s Equity & Diversity Management Plan 2009 - 20011 Budget.The University of WA anticipates funding 5-6 initiatives annually. Grants will be provided for one year only. Applicants are encouraged to seek co-funding from school or other sources. The budget for the Diversity Initiatives Grant for 2009/10 is $21,218. The initiative must aim to increase the participation, retention and/or success of students and staff in one or more of the identified priority areas. Initiatives which demonstrate clear and achievable outcomes and assurance of quality will be given a high priority. Students from low socio-economic backgrounds Students from rural or remote backgrounds Staff and students from culturally diverse backgrounds Indigenous staff and students Female students at both under and post-graduate levels in areas where they are under-represented Staff and students with a disability Staff and Students who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered or intersex Enhancing flexible work practices and life balance for staff and students Initiatives promoting a greater awareness of diversity issues
