Law School Project
This project was developed in response to the growing recognition of the need to embed appropriate diversity perspectives within the curriculum to ensure that UWA produces graduates who are both emotionally and intellectually comfortable with difference. The project was a joint initiative between the Equity and Diversity Office and the UWA Law School and was conducted by students enrolled in a final year unit ‘Contemporary Legal Issues in Australia’ during the second semester in 2004. It is anticipated that the outcomes of the project will include:- Identification of national and international cultural diversity best practice within higher education
- Conducting a cultural diversity audit within the UWA Law School based on available research
- Development and implementation of an attitudinal research instrument to assess attitudes towards race and cultural diversity within the undergraduate community in the UWA Law School
The findings of this project will inform the development of a larger and more comprehensive University-wide response in the area of race and cultural diversity that will be implemented over 2005/7 under the framework prescribed by the UWA Equity and Diversity Management Plan 2004/7. |
